FAQ:
Q: Did you build your home?
A: No, I realized I didn’t have the skills or the time to build my own. I purchased a Tumbleweed Tiny Home. I wanted to have a home constructed by a “certified builder” so I wouldn’t have any trouble getting it tagged and titled. I knew I was going to be moving with my home, so this was a priority for me.
Q: How long did it take to build?
A: It took approximately 8 weeks to have my home built
Q: How big is it?
A: I have a 24′ X 8′ Cypress model – around 230 square feet with the loft
Q: How did you decide on your floor plan?
A: I based my choice of floor plans on how I wanted to use the space on a day-to-day basis. I wanted a full-size shower, a relatively large kitchen, a washer and dryer, and lots of storage space. This is what I ended up with!
Q: How long did you look for the Tiny House you got?
A: It took me about 4 months to pick the house I wanted. I did a lot of research online with various builders and then went and toured the home I ended up getting.
Q: How often do you plan on moving?
A: I am guessing I will move every two or three years for a while. I am not sure what my plan is long-term. I have thought about touring the country or settling in one spot. We will see where the adventure takes me!
Q: Did you buy a vehicle that can pull your house?
A: No, I had a professional company move my house, and that is my plan if I move again in the near future. I did the math and it was less expensive for me to pay to move the house every couple of years than it would be to pay for a vehicle to tow the house.
Q: Are you off-grid?
A: No, being off-grid wasn’t a motivating factor for me. I currently live in an RV park. Ideally, I will buy a piece of land at some point that has power. At that point I will be on power, but will add a composting toilet so I don’t have a septic/sewer requirement.
Q: How do I get in touch with you?
A: I’d love to hear from you! Send me an e-mail at tinyhouseteacher@gmail.com or post a comment on my blog.
